Children may enter the school playground from 8:30am each day. However children are not supervised until 8.40am. The school takes no responsibility for their safety and well-being prior to 8.40am. Pedestrian access to the school is via the small gate at the front of the school, not through the car park. Please do not send children before 8:30am. Although staff are in attendance early, they are working to prepare for the day’s lessons and are unable to supervise the children before 8:40am. The bell is rung at 8:50am each morning. Playtimes are of course always supervised.

Home to School Transport
Children that arrive by school bus are met at the bus by a member of staff and escorted onto the school premises, likewise at the end of the school day, children are escorted onto the school bus by members of staff. Unless written notification is received from a parent advising of a change, bus children will always be placed on the bus. We do not accept verbal instructions from children, e.g. ‘I am going to a friends tonight and will not be on the bus’. This rule is to ensure your child’s safety.

Only children that possess a valid bus pass may travel on the school buses. The bus companies are not insured to transport children that do not have a bus pass.  An application form for home to school transport may be obtained from the School Administrator.

End of Day
Please ensure that you give the school clear instructions for your child concerning their arrangements for travelling home. Unless informed otherwise, class teachers will expect that their children are to be collected from the playground at the end of the day by their parent/carer. If you allow your child to walk home, be collected by another parent, etc, please ensure that we are informed in writing of these arrangements in advance or contacted as early in the day as possible for a one-off occurrence.

Lunch

Hot School Lunches are provided for a cost of £2.20 per day except where a child qualifies for a free meal, otherwise parents will need to provide a packed lunch. Please contact the Office Administrator for further details if you think that your child may be eligible for free school meals. Children are encouraged to eat what is provided. We would ask that you do not overfill boxes as this can cause difficulties, especially with younger children. Please avoid sending glass bottles or fizzy drinks. Children may also bring a healthy snack for morning break such as a piece of fruit or a packet of raisins. We also operate a tuck shop selling healthy options before school and during morning break.

Reception Class Phased Admission

Initially, when the children start in Reception Class in September, they attend for short days. For the first two weeks of school the day runs from 8.50am until 1pm.

During this time we advise that parents bring and collect their child from school. If your child is eligible for home to school transport they may start using the school bus from the first day of term in the mornings. However, you will need to make alternative arrangements for their collection at 1pm.

During the first two weeks all Reception Class children must bring a packed lunch. No hot school meals will be ordered as children eat their lunch in the classroom for this period. However, any child that is eligible for free school meals can be provided with a packed lunch by contacting the school office at least one week in advance.

In the event of school starting mid-week, parents will be advised of the relevant dates of the phased return during the previous Summer term.
